If you were planning on making some gift tags this year, can I suggest heading to the office supply store to buy a box of manila tags? After a few years of gift tag making they are still my very favorite go-to supply.

Strips of washi tape can decorate them quickly, with lots of color combinations. Or grab a date stamp while you're at the store too and you can quickly make some tags announcing the big date coming up.

If you want to take your crafting a step further you need a big paper punch (or die cut machine), a page protector, some foam tape and seed beads.

After punching the shape out of the tag you adhere a piece of the page protector to cover the opening on the back of the tag. Outline the page protector piece with narrowly trimmed pieces of foam tape to make a box. Sprinkle in whatever combination you'd like of colorful seed beads in a single layer. Include one more chunk of foam tape at the top of the tag and then take a second office tag to carefully stick to the back, making sure you press well to seal it up.

Then you have little shaker box tags to tie to your gifts.

And when I am making a tag, I don't make just one. I make at least three and often more. I actually made ten snowflake shaker box tags in an assembly line and it didn't take much time at all. Then I pile my sets of tags into a little bucket to keep handy when I am wrapping gifts.

Hope this helps get some ideas going for adding a handmade touch to your gifts this year. Have a wonderful holiday season!
